Dean Castle Performance
Time: Saturday May 27, 1.30pm Dean Castle is a faithfully restored example of a late medieval courtyard castle. Refurbished during the first half of the 20th century by the 8th Lord Howard de Walden, it was gifted to the Burgh of Kilmarnock by his son, the 9th Lord, in 1975. It is now run by East Ayrshire Council's Museums and Arts Section and holds collections of early musical instruments, arms and armour, and relics and manuscripts relating to Robert Burns. It is accessible by free guided tours from April to the end of October in the afternoon, seven days a week (during winter months weekends only). A new exhibition titled "Special Occasion" is now in place, presenting wedding dresses and embroidered christening robes from the costume and paintings collection. The 8th Lord Howard de Walden was, amonsgt many other things, a clarinet player. He had a supply of the instruments sent to him in the trenches during WW1. Performance
